About the University of Stirling Human Rights Journal

The University of Stirling Human Rights Journal (USHRJ) seeks to spotlight the incredible research conducted by graduate students, young professionals, and early career researchers in the field of human rights. Recognising these are tomorrow's thought leaders, we established USHRJ to give voice to their innovative ideas and insights. Our mission is to break down the barriers to academic publishing by providing an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that showcases the diverse and significant contributions of emerging human rights advocates. At USHRJ, we believe they deserve recognition as researchers in their own right, and we are committed to supporting their professional development.

USHRJ accepts shorter articles for the Blog section and longer papers for the Journal section. We accept submissions from across different disciplines on the broad topic of Human Rights. Topics for consideration include:

  • Migration/Refugees
  • Transitional/Post-Conflict/Criminal Justice
  • Diplomacy/International Relations and Human Rights
  • Climate, Environment and Human Rights
  • Business and Human Rights
  • Racial, Ethnic, and Sexual Minorities
  • Children and Human Rights
  • Arts and Human Rights
